FDA's proposed rules discussion, February 22nd

CAFF and Wild Farm Alliance are hosting a lunch meeting, to which you are invited, on Friday, February 22 from 12:00 – 1:15pm, at CAFF’s Glide Ranch (36355 Russell Blvd, Davis, CA). The purpose of this meeting is to:
       Discuss what is in the FDA’s proposed rules that relates to wild and domestic animals, compost and manure, and how it might impact your operation ·       Solicit your suggestions and input on the *attached* draft illustration and description key (2 documents) on Co-managing for Food Safety and Conservation. It will be distributed to small and mid-size farms, as well as incorporated into a technical note for the NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service). ·       Find out of there are any other practices you use on your farm/ranch to effectively "co-manage" food safety and conservation. We’d like to share those stories (which will be kept anonymous) with other farmers and conservationists. 
Please come to the meeting to learn about FDA’s proposed rule and to share your innovative ideas with us. We’re buying lunch!

Comments to FDA’s proposed food safety rules are due on May 16th. There are two parts, but the one most relevant to the co-management of food safety and conservation is Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption.
