Internship Details: Interns (5) at Mountain Bounty farm join our crew (generally 10-12 people) for all farm activities from plant propagation to tractor work to harvest and delivery. We are committed to both learning and teaching. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants a serious learning experience at a successful small scale
vegetable farm. Interns will work 5 days a week (Mon-Fri). Interns will also be responsible for rotating through CSA deliveries and Saturday Farmers Market and occasional irrigation duties after hours. Interns will be able to commit to working the entire season, running from April 1st through November 15th, with one week paid vacation after August 1st.
Compensation: Interns are paid a monthly stipend of $700, subject to taxes. Additionally, each intern is provided with a small, private, rustic cabin (cozy, but no heating or electricity). Interns share an equipped kitchen and bathroom space. Interns also have full access to farm produce.
Skills Desired: Desire to become a farmer. Appetite for knowledge about small scale farming. Desire and ability to work hard in all weather conditions. Outgoing, personable, and works well in a team setting. Positivity and a sense of humor are big pluses. Previous farming experience is preferable, but not required. Interns must be
committed to the farming lifestyle and all it entails.
Educational Opportunities: While participating in every aspect of the farm, each intern will be specifically responsible for a project of their own. For example, one intern may be in charge of most of the irrigation duties. Another will be responsible for monitoring plant propagation, another, chicken care and record keeping, etc. Occasionally, the whole farm crew will travel to nearby farms for tours and discussion.
