Internships at Leap Frog Farm

Leap Frog Farm is a small organic veggie and fruit farm in the Capay Valley in Yolo County. We have 2 internship positions open for 2016, with a starting stipend of $150/week, plus food and living space. The internship will go from April 1st to September 30th, but those dates can be flexible :). We work 5 days a week on the farm, go to farmers markets in Davis on Wednesday evenings (seasonally), and Marin on Saturdays (year-round), and take Sundays off. It gets really hot here in the summer (often over 100 degrees), so during that time of the year, we start work around 6 in the morning, take a break in the middle of the day, and work into the evening.
The farm is on 20 acres, with 2.5 acres of veggie production, and ~3 acres of fruit orchards. We focus on heirloom varieties of vegetables, which in the summer and fall includes ~20 varieties of heirloom tomatoes, ~25 varieties of melons, and a wide variety of peppers, eggplant, cherry tomatoes, summer and winter squash, onions, basil, etc. During our cooler season (Nov-May), we grow lots of salad greens, bunched leafy greens, roots, broccoli, cabbage and the like. We have a few goats for milk and cheese, and hope to add more pastured animals to our crop rotation in the future.
The Capay Valley is an hour northwest of Davis, home to many small organic farms, and a great rural community with potlucks, yoga classes, craft nights and an active Grange and Farmers Guild! It is a really fun place to live and farm! Come join us!
