Join us for a potluck dinner and take the opportunity to learn from Tom and Denesse Willey, pioneers of organic agriculture. Tom and Denesse are entertaining and eloquent speakers with more than 35 years of experience growing and selling amazing fruits and vegetables in the San Joaquin Valley. If you farm or ranch in Placer and Nevada counties you will want to attend. Come and learn from people who know what it takes to make a living as farmers.

The event is open to anyone who currently operates a commercial farm in Placer, Nevada, and surrounding counties. Space is limited, so reservations are required.

For beginning farmers in the first 3 years of operation who have started selling.  We’ll discuss setting up your farm as a business: regulations, financial management & cash flow, and planning for risk.

CA Farm Academy 2017 Information Session

Greetings from the CA Farm Academy!

The California Farm Academy's (CFA) Beginning Farmer Training Program trains beginning farmers in all aspects of agricultural production through field work, business planning, classes, and farm visits to give students a solid foundation in what they need to know to start a farm business or manage a farm operation.  At the close of the program each student will have completed a farm business plan. Please see the attached flyer for more information about the program.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2017 program!  To meet alumni, program staff, and learn more, please come to the farm and join us for our Information Session.

Come to meet and hear FSA Director Val Dolcini talk about funding and support opportunities for beginning and small farmers from FSA. He'll be accompanied by Yolo County Director Cynthia Gillette, and FSA Regional Farm Loan Manager Belle Davis.
This will be an invaluable opportunity to learn about low-interest and micro loans through FSA, as well as other programs such as crop insurance and farm storage grants available to beginning and experienced farmers.

The webinar will cover Whole Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP), Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) and a number of other crop insurance programs that can help you protect your farm from unforeseen financial losses.

A half-day conference for Central Coast farmers and food system professionals to share ideas, strategies, and practical tools for farm business success​ amongst farmers, farm service providers, food processors, retailers, wholesalers, buyers, restaurants/chefs, and artisanal value-added producers.
