Job Description: 
Seeking someone to manage our ranch and expand operations as desired on our 480 owned acres and 300 leased acres farm. We currently have 100 head of grass-fed/finished beef direct-marketed once annually to an established CA customer base. We have sold pastured goats, sheep, pigs, and chickens in the past and have a 1000 sq foot irrigated hoop house for veg production. We are seeking an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who is interested in starting their own enterprises while managing our current operation -a polyface-style sub-contractor essentially.
Duties & Responsibilities: 
Management of established beef herd, seasonal haying of 50 acres, creating/developing profitable add-on enterprises as desired (i.e., pastured poultry, goats, pigs, CSA, market garden, etc) within a sustainable, organic model. Easily able to certify organic if paperwork completed. Marketing/advertising/social media. Maintain AWA and Grass-fed Certifications.
Education & Experience: 
Desired qualifications include holistic management, MIG, cattle ranching experience.

Training at Terra Firma Farm

Monday, February 20th, 2pm - 5pm

Join veteran organic vegetable grower Paul Underhill of Terra Firma Farm for a three-hour workshop in Winters on the basics of mechanical cultivation for vegetable crops. The workshop is geared towards small and new farmers and will include:

-- How to select the right tractor for your operation
-- Choosing a bed size that best fits your crop mix and your equipment
-- Simple techniques for marking out and shaping beds
-- Strategies to allow mechanical cultivation of hand-planted crops
-- Inexpensive mechanical planting options
-- Setting up an easy to use, inexpensive cultivator that will work with most of your crops
-- A show and tell of different cultivator tools.
-- How to prioritize equipment purchases to make the most of your limited funds.

Workshop will feature two hours of instruction plus an hour for questions and discussion. The instructor will tailor the workshop to each participant's needs. Size will be limited to 6 participants.

Cost: $85 per person or organization.
