Capay Mills is hiring!

Are you interested in helping revive our local grain economy? Maybe you're a passionate baker? Do you live in the Davis/Winters/Woodland area and are available to work 2 full days (16 hours) a week helping us meet demand for our unique, locally grown, heirloom flours?

If so, Capay Mills is looking for a reliable, responsible, and enthusiastic associate to oversee production at our storefront flourmill in beautiful downtown Esparto, gateway to Capay Valley! You’ll be ably assisted by an experienced recent Esparto High graduate (who is attending UCD next year). Capay Mills has exciting expansion plans in the coming year, and I need production help so I can concentrate on business planning and fundraising.

Our customers include some of the most celebrated restaurants and artisan bakers in the Bay Area, Sacramento and Davis. We match our customers in the passion, craft and attention we bring to our flours. We are also involved in re-kindling a vibrant local grain economy, working with small growers to reintroduce cereal grains as a cash crop on diversified, sustainable local farms. Capay Mills grows a portion of the grain we mill, while increasing the supply of historical and heritage wheat for planting.

You will be responsible, after training, for all aspects of milling, from mill operation and maintenance to packaging. There are additional opportunities to contribute to sales and marketing at our Bay Area farmers’ markets, as well as helping with grain cultivation, harvest and processing in Capay Valley.

You must be over 18 years old, able to lift 50+ lbs. and be comfortable spending the day on your feet working with machinery in a noisy and dusty environment. Capay Mills is probably not the best environment for those with gluten sensitivities.

If you're interested, reply to info@capaymills.com with “Mill Associate” in the subject line. Learn more about Capay Mills at www.capaymills.com.

Thanks!
